5 arrested for throwing stones at Vande Bharat during trial run in Chhattisgarh

Five people were arrested on Saturday for allegedly throwing stones at a Vande Bharat Express train in Chhattisgarh’s Mahasamund district, officials said.
The incident occurred when the Durg-Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express was on its trial run and passing through Bagbahra railway station on its way back from Visakhapatnam to Durg on Friday night.
The train is to be flagged off from Durg on September 16 for a regular run, officials said.
The attack resulted in damage to the windows of three train coaches: C2-10, C4-1, and C9-78.
Following the incident, the Railway Police Force (RPF) apprehended five individuals identified as Shiv Kumar Baghel, Devendra Chandrakar, Jeetu Tandi, Lekhraj Sonwani, and Arjun Yadav.
They have been charged under Section 153 of the Railway Act, 1989, and will be presented in the Raipur Railway Court soon.
Notably, Baghel’s sister-in-law is a Congress corporator in Bagbahra, news agency PTI reported.
